Based in San Antonio, Texas, AT&T is the largest telephone and DSL internet provider in the United States.

The AT&T brand name is notable for its historical significance, stretching back to the invention of the telephone in the 1880s. The company has successfully evolved and innovated over the decades, becoming a well-known provider of DSL internet access throughout its 13-state service footprint.

AT&T is also in the process of rolling out a fiber optic broadband network, which will allow for higher-speed internet offerings, as well as numerous television and Video On Demand services. These services are already being offered in a number of select cities.

Despite AT&T's excellent reputation through time, many customers have called the telecom giant's trust into question in recent months, due to its alleged participation in the U.S. government's unauthorized wiretapping program.
