BellSouth Internet Service

BellSouth is currently the top local telephone carrier in the southeastern United States, as well as the nation's third largest DSL internet provider, with a total of 3.1 million customers.

BellSouth's DSL packages are currently available in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Tennessee.

Customers of BellSouth will be transferred to AT&T in late 2006 or early 2007 when that company completes its acquisition of the smaller telecom carrier. At that time, AT&T will likely begin rolling out its fiber optic broadband network throughout BellSouth's nine-state footprint, allowing for faster upload and download speeds, as well as a number of advanced broadband applications.
