Verizon Phone Service
Second only to AT&T, Verizon Communications is a major presence in America's telecommunications industry, providing local and long distance phone service to millions of customers in the eastern United States. Verizon was formed by the merger of regional telephone carriers, Bell Atlantic and NYNEX, with independent provider, GTE (General Telephone and Electronics). Long distance carrier, MCI, was acquired by the company in 2005. Verizon is now a major provider of both local and long distance telephone service, as well as FiOS video, and DSL internet access. It also operates America's second largest cell phone network, Verizon Wireless. |
